Very nearby are the popular areas of Woolacombe which links to Putsborough, Georgeham, Saunton Sands and the village of Braunton.
Croyde beach is a renowned surfing bay and has been the location of the British Surfing Championships on three occasions. The bay offers a wide expanse of golden sand backed by dunes and green fields. The surf in Croyde is famed for the consistency of the waves partly due to the favourable direction Croyde faces into the ocean, receiving swell from anywhere in the North Atlantic.
Croyde lies within the 'North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. Croyde village and its beach face West over the Atlantic Ocean and are a subject to some truly magical sunsets.
